Understanding the context of Employment Equity Act and Affirmative Action policies in the maritime industry and South African navy. This has had an impact on the way gender and race is viewed in light of the political and social transformation in the workplace. This thesis analyses the understanding of these political reforms amongst historically disadvantaged individuals in the South African navy.
